Dirigo's Inaugural Paddle

Doug on the water in Wilde Lake in Columbia, MD
Mandie, Paige and I took the Dirigo to Wilde Lake in Columbia. It's pretty little, but was nice to get the kayak in the water. A little trip around the lake gave me some nice views of a bunch of turtles, a heron (blue heron, maybe) and the results of a spectacular jump by a fish.

All in all, I was out on the water for 30 to 40 minutes. The Dirigo is a fun little boat. In my haste to get off the dock and into the boat, I couldn't reach the foot pegs, so that was a little disconcerting. But, the boat still responded quite well to my paddling.

This was also the Pacific Designs paddle's inauguration. It felt great and had plenty of bite to get me and the kayak moving.

Also, for those safety minded folks - I was wearing a wetsuit in case of an unexpected dip.
