Kid's Kayak Paddle

One of my goals with kayaking is to have a time and place that I can spend with my daughter. Knowing her, she won't be content to just sit and watch the scenery go by - she's going to want to help paddle.

As the best fathers do, I procrastinated until the very last possible minute to decide that I was going to purchase a kayak paddle for her, for Christmas... on the morning of the 21st. I e-mailed a couple of local kayak shops (Annapolis Canoe and Kayak, Potomac Paddlesports and Blue Mountain Outfitters). Each place had recommendations - the Werner Sprite at $75, a Bending Branches Cattail at $40 (scratch & dent) and even a kid's canoe paddle.

I also posted over at PNET and got similar, but good recommendations.

In the end, I picked up the Cattail - the price was right and it's nice and lightweight. Santa brought it on Christmas morning and she seemed quite pleased with it. I wasn't even allowed to bring it to work today!
